What is a GPI file?

Files that contain the .gpi file extension are associated with Garmin GPS devices. The GPI files that are used by these GPS devices store the location and name of a user-defined POI (also known as a point of interest).

A user's GPI files are used by the Garmin GPS device to generate navigational routes. For example, if a user wants directions to a favorite restaurant, the GPS device would reference the GPI file to provide the user with directions to the specific location.

The Bitware Fax software also uses the .gpi file suffix. These files contain fax files that have been sent or received using the Bitware Fax software program.
